Haymitch is also supposed to help Katniss and Peeta in trying to win the hunger games. Since winning made him independently rich, he has spent almost all of his intervening leisure time drunk to the point of embarrassment. Then there’s Haymitch Abernathy, A paunchy, middle-aged man who was the victor of the 50th Hunger Games. Peeta is a 16 year old He is described as being medium height with a stocky build, has light gray with ash blond hair that falls in waves over his forehead, and with blue eyes. Then there’s peeta Mellark, Peeta is in love with Katniss and becomes her main friend and romantic interest during the Games. The skills and qualities she developed to successfully deal with the everyday challenges of being poor, including her ability to hunt, her toughness, and her resourcefulness, turn out to be what keeps her alive through the games.
Katniss is also the main provider in her family. She’s really good at foraging and hunting, skills she learned from her father before his death years earlier in a mine explosion. She has a family of three Katniss herself, her mother, Prim, her younger sister, and of course her cat. Katniss is thin with black hair, grey eyes and olive skin. The main character of the book and its narrator, Katniss Everdeen, is a strong, clever sixteen year old who is far more mature than you’d come to think.
